Vibes Explained

You might be thinking… What The Frequency is she talking about?

I know. This is all so new age (or LA), but if it can improve the way you feel, why not give it a try?

Let’s break it down. What does it mean to “raise your vibration” or “raise your frequency”?

According to Dr. David R. Hawkins, a renowned author, researcher, and psychiatrist, our emotions have an energetic frequency that can actually be measured. This concept is illustrated in his well-known "Map of Consciousness” shown below.

Feelings like enlightenment, peace, joy, and love have the highest frequencies, while emotions like shame, guilt, apathy, grief, and fear have the lowest energetic frequencies.

So, why does this matter?

Think about our world since 2020. What have we been experiencing on repeat? Fear, grief, anger, guilt, and shame — emotions that lower our individual and collective frequencies.

But here’s the good news…

In online marketing, there's a saying: "If it can be measured, it can be optimized."

The same goes for us. Our frequencies can be measured, and they can be optimized!

We can learn to raise our frequency by becoming more mindful of our thoughts, words, emotions, actions, choices, and the people, substances and information we allow into our energetic space.

This is what VIBE CURATION is all about.

Energy Takers vs. Energy Givers

By artist Deion

List comparing energy takers and energy givers. Energy Takers: focusing on the past, inconsistent sleep, mess, clutter, sedentary time, social media, overworking, dehydration, screen time, resentment, negativity, junk food, news, alcohol, stress, fear. Energy Givers: music, nature, resting, sunlight, positivity, gratitude, hydration, meditation, movement, breathwork, community, decluttering, consistent sleep, whole foods, learning.

What is “vibrational awareness?”

Have you noticed how you feel after too much screen time, watching the news, eating junk food, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, stressing, complaining, focusing on what’s wrong, and not sleeping enough?

If you’re anything like me, you feel bad. Why? Because these things lower your frequency. They take your energy.

Now tune into how you feel when you spend time in nature, exercise, eat healthy food, clean your home, meditate, listen to uplifting music, practice yoga, laugh, forgive, show gratitude, and get a good night’s sleep…

You feel good.

Why? Because these positive habits raise your frequency. They give you energy, as shown in Deion’s “Energy Takers vs. Energy Givers” image above.

Thanks James Brown and team for that. So good. (Dancing raises your vibration too, by the way).

After 20 years of therapy and self-help work, I have found the most profound healing in learning to listen to my body — rather than my mind — and developing the inner navigation system of my own intuition. Spiritual practitioners are calling it “vibrational awareness”.

Vibrational awareness is our compass through the uncharted waters of life these days. I encourage you to read Vibrate Higher Daily by Lalah Delia to learn more.
